Our wood serving trays are made with plywood bottoms and edges constructed of papier mache. Papier mache is a very strong material- it was favored in Victorian England for hand-painted furniture such as chairs and small tables.
The designs on our trays are our original ones, commissioned from various artists over the years. We then send the original paintings overseas, where they are copied onto our trays by skilled painters. The trays are then varnished to make them totally and absolutely impervious to alcohol and water. They measure approximately 21 inches by 15 inches.
Therefore, our trays are fully functional, and our customers tell us they sell them as "paintings you can serve drinks on." They are even signed on the bottom by the artists who painted them. They are designed to be real conversation pieces. As our customers have told us again and again, "Where can you even buy a painting for this price?"
